Prayer Request and Friday Funnies

Can I ask you all a favor?? Would you all please pray for Lyla today as she travels home?? That she would be comfortable, and fly like a champ?? She had a bad day yesterday, so Summer is worried she won't do well. Thank you!!!

Just a couple things that are probably really dumb sounding, but if one of them makes you chuckle (or laugh at how blonde I can be), then my goal is met. :)

-I can't spell my name correctly anymore. My name is spelled Sarah, and the other one here is Sara. I have written and typed her name soo many times the past 2 weeks, that the other day when I tried to sign my name at the end of something, I SPELLED MY NAME WRONG!! Pathetic, but true.

-If my feet had two favorite colors, what do you think they would be??

-Bellie has CRAZY sleepy hair some days!

-You leave them in easy reach in case you need them, but really? When was the last time you used those fancy glasses? Most likely before sippy cups and bottles invaded. ;)

-When we were at the mall picking up some things before Summer left, I saw a Green Bay Packer hat, and found it odd to see one here. It took me awhile to realize WHY that's odd - I'm not in WI anymore! ;)

Homeschooling

I started school earlier this week. We typically don't start until after Labor Day, but I wanted to get a head start to take time off later. I can do that when I homeschool!

Yes, I'm homeschooled! I have been all my life, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I LOVE it!

We are at homeschool camp (my friend is posting this for me), so in honor of the occasion, I want to share with you this video - Seven Lies About Homeschoolers. It's pretty awesome, and you'll get a kick out of it, esp if you are a homeshooler (or homeschooling mom)! And if you're not, maybe you'll learn something! :)

I think we are crazy!

Enjoy this post mom! And dad, don't worry, the thing on the label that said washes out wasn't very accurate... I might still be a tad green when you get back.. ;)

For more reason then one! The reason is this post has to do with the fact that our church has VBS (Vacation Bible School) this week (Mon-Thurs, ended last night). 3 of my crazy friends, crazy me, and crazy Mrs. H are leading the songs with all the signs and motions.

Rachel and I are also helping out with the preschool class... it's gotten quite interesting at times, but boy I would love to be a preschool teacher! :) I find that grumpy preschoolers are a bit more fun to deal with then grumpy adults. ;)

The theme of VBS is "Inside out & Upside down on Main Street. So the 5 of us upfront decided to do something fun each night of the week. The first night it was hats from different places on Main Street, but thanks to our dress up box down stairs, it turned into a Santa hat, fireman hat, a cowboy hat, a sun hat, and a sombrero. :) On Tuesday it was nurse scrubs, and Hawaiian lays. On Wednesday, we all had colored hair, and our lays again! Last night, we all had tiaras (because we are daughters of the King of Kings) our lays again, and we came in at the end with wacky glasses, horns, and poppers.

1. In the Wizard of Oz, I know how they got the wicked witch's skin green.. you should see the back of my neck!
2. I must be Irish, my roots run green, very green...

Yep, that would be Elijah...

Yep, that would be Elijah who put the stuffed zebra on the changing table and got out a diaper...

The result (with a little help from Mama) - a diapered zebra!

Yep, I agree with the wise words - "At least now the zebra won't be pooping all over the house." :P

Yep, that would be Elijah who was moving as fast as lighting, so he is to blame for the quality of the pictures, not me.. Sorry!

Lawn Mowing Musings

I had meant to post this last night, but Blogger was still having issues.. :(

No, I did not mow the lawn like this.. :)

Tonight, I was out mowing for the first time this year. My musings:


Dad was out of town for the night, and mom and me needed to jump start the mower. Should be easy to do with a engineering school graduate (my mom), right? Haha! She isn't a engineer anymore, she's a stay at home mom. Good thing dad had his cell phone! :)

Our lawn mower of over 10 years works pretty well most of the time.

Whoever invented the riding lawn mover is a genius! Next time just add a few more springs please. :)

Elijah loves the lawnmower and escaped from mama several times to come chase it and attack it. Rachel, on the other hand is scared of it.

Sun glasses don't work very well at dusk even when the intent isn't to keep the sun out of your eyes. You can't see what is cut and what isn't when you have them on!

As far as yard care goes, I'll happily live in a apartment in EE! (I'll happily live in a apartment over there no matter what! :))

If you come to our house anytime soon, please don't pay attention to the quality of the grass in our backyard...

But really, being out there really got me thinking. Why are we so concerned about how our yards look? I suppose it's because we have nothing else to worry about. But let's take a moment and think about those whose lawn is the farthest thing from their mind. They aren't even worried about it they have a yard. But they are worried about where the food for the next meal is going to come from, or if there even is going to be a next meal. We are blessed. Very BLESSED.

Soul Surfer

I'm going to see this movie tomorrow when it comes out with a couple friends, and I'm REALLY excited to see it. It's based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton and it's about a teenage surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack, and overcomes the odds by even staying alive. She goes on to become one of the best surfers in the US, with only one arm.



I loved it as soon as I saw the trailer, and after watching many more interviews and videos about the true story, and hearing a couple broadcasts interviewing Bethany Hamilton on our local Christian radio station, I am dying to see it! :) While it's not labeled as a "religious" movie, it maintains a Christian view through the whole thing by including a band performing "Blessed be Your Name", which is the song that helped Bethany and her family through that hard time of their lives, as well as reading from the Bible for comfort, and something as simple as praying at the dinner table before they eat.

My favorite line from all the trailers (and I'm sure it will be my favorite line in the whole movie!) is when Bethany says very determinedly, "I don't need easy, I just need possible." My second favorite part is the conversation in the clip below.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it (as you can tell!) and I'll let you know how it is! :)

Three things I learned today...

***Three things to keep in mind while reading this post - 1) I live in the Upper Midwest, where the spring weather is a little out of whack - 2) I have these boots - 3) I can easily injure myself with something like a pencil (I almost killed myself the other night playing with a mouse trap at youth group-don't ask!)*


Now, onto the three things I learned today!
1) It is WAY to nasty outside (freezing rain, wind, mud, puddles, typical spring weather here) to walk a dog a 1/2 mile.
2) My boots are water proof but not puddle proof.
3) Umbrellas are dangerous when its windy! I didn't fly away like Mary Poppins, but I did manage to whack myself across the face with a pole from the umbrella...


Heehee, probaby not what you expected for my first post, but... I have a sense of humor (just ask my friends!). :) A little about me - I am 12 years old, and the oldest of 6 children. Anna is 8, Isaac is 6, Rebekah is 4, Elijah is 3, and Rachel is 1. Elijah came home at the end of last year from an orphanage in Eastern Europe (EE). He is adjusting very well, getting into lots of trouble (as any American 3 yo boy would!), and we are trilled to have him in our family! You can visit my mom's adoption blog (now more of a family blog) here - My God is Lord. I LOVE to crochet and sew and I don't care so much for math. ;) Last summer I was able to go on a mission trip to EE with my dad and it was a life changing experience. I can't wait to go back! I'll tell more about that trip in another post. I also have a heart for orphans, and I hope I am able to adopt some day. I have several other blogs including my crocheting blog - For His Glory Handiwork, and a blog where I am selling my crocheting items to help the Silva family bring Noah home - Handiwork for Noah. Not sure what else to say about myself and mom's telling me it's time to get off, so I better go. Until next time, Paka!
