We forget.

We go on with our day to day lives. Figuring out what we are having for dinner or what we are doing tomorrow.

We forget. That she still waits.

It's not a made up story. It's not something out of the past. It's real. It's happening right now.

She is sitting in an institution. RIGHT now. As you read this. She is starving. Hurting. In need of medical care. In need of love.

Think about it. Year after year with no love. No hugs.

I read this the other night and I haven't been able to get it off my mind.

“We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth.” -Virginia Satir

No hugs. Year after year. Not surviving on 4 a day, but NONE. Year after year.

We forget about her plight. We forget what she goes through everyday.

How much longer??? When will we remember?? When will we take action???

She still waits. And we forget.

  1. Excellent post Sarah! Wouldn't it be wonderful to see her transformed and full of smiles like Lyla? I hope her turn for a family comes soon!

  3. You are right, she and so many others wait without love day after lonely long day. And we forget, but also we don't want to know, we don't want to accept the "risk" involved in adoption, the risk that not everything will turn out perfectly, the risk of being stretched a bit more than is confortable... I was reminded of that by a conversation this morning at church with yet another person who found adoption a terrible bad thing that never turns out right... How wrong she is and how sure she is of being right...
Young people like you with such a heart for orphans give me hope! thanks for that and a wonderfull post!
