Waiting Wednesday: Kristopher

6 days.
That's how many days Kristopher has left to find a family.
Kristopher is turning 2 this year, and is precious!!
SIX DAYS.

Kristopher hardly has any special needs, besides his eyes, which he is getting surgery to fix in his country, and of course whatever orphanage behaviors he has from the first 2 years of his life.
PLEASE PLEASE consider adopting him!!! He does not have time to spare!!!! His country is very easy to adopt from, easy paperwork, easy travel, older parents allowed, and no family size restrictions! And remember, he doesn't need a paper ready family, just one that will say YES to go get him as soon as they can!

If you can't adopt him, please share his URGENT need!!! Thank you!!

For more information about him go here and here.

Kristopher #4-5

DOB: 2010
Diagnosis: congenital cataract of both eyes and congenital glaucoma
Cytomegaloviral Infection that was passed to him from his birth mother

Kristopher is 1 year old. He’s had 2 eye surgeries already and needs surgery for both cataracts. He’s been seen by an opthamologist 10 times since arriving at the orphanage when he was 4 months old.

He is just beginning to learn to crawl. He has good head control and attempts to pull himself up. He is making combinations of sounds. He picks up toys and moves them closer to him.  He enjoys interactions with caregivers and smiles when they come close to him.   He expresses his pleasure by babbling to get their attention and then cheering when they respond. He laughs loudly and plays with toys with initiative. He is beginning to interact with other children.  He is receiving physical therapy, speech therapy and basic instruction to foster his social development.

UPDATE (April 2012):
Kristopher is doing very well. In the new videos of him, he is tracking objects, playing with toys and saying “mama”!
He does have cataracts and would benefit from lens replacement surgery. The orphanage is currently seeking funds to have this done ASAP so that his development is not hindered by his vision problems. He is still very young and a family starting the process now could have him home before his 3rd birthday.

Several current videos are available, as well.
Because we only have this child’s file for a short time, he will not be able to receive donations until a family is found for him.

And as always, please let me remind you to go get a puzzle piece if you haven't already! :)
