Isn't she soo sweet??? She is in the same region as Tabitha and Lizzy, who are equally cute! :) I would LOVE if all three girls came home together! There would be too much cute to stand in that family!!! ♥

Canadian families can adopt in this region! Families that have less then 8 kids (as long as they have a sizable income) can adopt from this region. So that means Rebekah's family would have to have 5 kids or less because they need to bring home Lizzy and Tabitha too!! ;) Parents under 60 can adopt from this region and single mothers can too! (Unfortunately, because of the USCIS requirements they have to be 25! :P Otherwise I would be on my way to get these girls! ;)) This region only takes two trips, with 2-3 months in between, and in country travel is very easy!!! It is also one of the cheaper of the R Regions!

So c'mon people! Let's get this sweetie pie HOME!

What is Down Syndrome??

Since it's National Down Syndrome Month and I am posting everyday (today is day 4!) to raise awareness for Down Syndrome, I thought I might as well tell you about what Down Syndrome is! :)

***I am by no means and expert, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong!***


Believe it or not, people with Down Syndrome, specifically Trisomy 21, since there are 3 kinds of Down Syndrome, (but more about that another day!) have the same exact chromosomes as everyone else! They are just blessed with an extra one! They have an extra 21st chromosome shown in the picture below, hence "Trisomy 21"!

But, the simple fact is they are hardly ANY different than you! They have feelings just as you do, and they want to be treated like everyone else! They just are a little bit slower to understand things and they look slightly different. Look slightly different? Why on earth do we care about that? Some people are tall, some are short. Do we discriminate the really tall people or short people? For the most part, absolutely not! So why should we with people with Down Syndrome?

I think Sunnie sums it up best - "I have often thought that maybe it is the rest of us with the problem...not those with the extra chromosome....they are joyful and experience life to the fullest...they love with EVERYTHING they have!!! I think the rest of us should take some lessons!!!"

And guess what Princess Lyla says! - 

"What do you mean? I don't have an extra chromosome - you're missing one! 

And I don't have a family because my mom thought I had an extra one! That wasn't my fault, and now I am stuck in an orphanage all day! Will you get me out?"

DS Awareness Walk!

Alrighty! It's Day 2 of the 31 for 21 challenge! As promised, the DS Walk!

Yesterday was our 2nd Annual Local Down Syndrome Awareness Walk! If you follow my mom's blog at all you probably have heard her talking about walk the past few weeks and asking people to join our team! And I would say, by the size of our team, her posts paid off! :) Our team -

So last year, I met Lilya (she was there this year, but I didn't get to see her much... ):) for the first time at the walk, this year I met Lucas, I wonder who I will meet next year! :) I can't wait 'till next year!!

31 for 21!

October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month! And I officailly joined the challage to blog every day in October to spread awareness for DS (Down Syndrome). If you don't get the 31 for 21 part, there are 31 days in October, and Down Syndrome is a duplication of the 21st chromosome, but more on that later! :) They might not all be about DS, but I will blog everyday, and for the most part all the children I feature for WW, FF, and MM will have DS!

Well, since today is October first, it's day 1! :) All I have to say today is that I have two brothers with DS, and they are AMAZING!!!
